The first step toward balancing your work and your private life is to work on your time management skills. One of the best ways to do this is to keep an activity log for one week. The activity log should list the activity you are doing, the time, how long it takes to complete the task, and how you feel at the time you are doing it.

After the week is up, evaluate your activity log. What activities could you remove from you day? What time of day do you seem to have more energy and get more accomplished? Take this information seriously and determine what you can do to save some time.

Once you have taken the time analyze your activities, implement changes that will free up more of your time. Even if you save just an hour a day, that is one hour that you could be using to do something you enjoy. It can take some time to make the changes, but in the end, you will find the time it took was worth the effort.
